Canberra Urban Honey are the ACT Sustainable Cities overall title holders for 2014, won at the Keep Australia Beautiful ACT Sustainable Cities Awards at the end of July in Canberra. This now makes them a finalist for the Australian Sustainable Cities Awards. The National awards will be held in November, hosted by last year’s winners, the City of Marion, South Australia.
Canberra Urban Honey will be visited by Australian Sustainable Cities judge Cameron Little in the coming weeks, to compare them to finalists from all over the country.
Mr Little said, “To be recognised on a national stage is quite the achievement for fourth generation bee keeper Mitchell Pearce, and his team. I can’t wait to see their winning project first hand.”
The Australian Sustainable Cities Awards encourage, motivate and celebrate the local sustainability achievements of urban communities across Australia, and have been running since 2007.
National Sustainable Cities finalists already announced include:
City of Manly, New South Wales
Glenorchy City Council, Tasmania
City of Brimbank, Victoria
City of Palmerston, Northern Territory
Queensland (announced 15 August)

The Keep Australia Beautiful Australian Sustainable Cities Awards are sponsored by the Do The Right Thing program.
