Swift Group of Colleges in association with Ind-Swift organized a Cancer awareness walk ' Swift Walk Towards Cancer Awareness ' to coincide with World Cancer Day on February 4, 2013.

(PressReleasePoint):More than 300 enthusiasts, a vast majority of them college students, participated in the ‘Swift Walk Towards Cancer Awarness” organized by the Swift Group of Colleges in association with Ind-Swift to Coincide with World Cancer Day on February 4, 2013.
  The walkathon, aimed at creating general awareness and disseminating information about various types of cancer, symptoms and preventive measures among the masses, was flagged off from Mini Secretariat , Sector 9 by Mr. Suman Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Training) and culminated in Shopping Plaza, Sector 17.
 ‘Be careful Not Fearful’ was the mantra of enthusiasts who participated in the walkathon. Their message to the masses for fighting the lethal disease was regular complete checkups to prevent the disease. Addressing the committed band of students and others,  Mr.  Kumar said “Cancer is curable, provided it is detected at an early stage. This awareness walk will definitely go a long way in creating awareness and providing information to residents about cancer”.
 On this occasion students also enacted a role play focusing on early detection and cure of cancer. A human chain was also formed. Onlookers were highly appreciative of the effort.
                Appreciating the zeal and enthusiasm of the students Dr. G Munjal , President , Swift Group of Colleges said “ Swift Group of Colleges has always involved itself in such social activities and noble causes to create healthy and happy society . Such kind of awareness programs will surely create sense of awareness among the people”.
 It is noted that India gets about 9 Lakh new cancer cases annually and four Lakh deaths occur during this due to this disease, the third largest killer disease in the country.  India has about 30 Lakh cancer patients at any given point of time.
