Capita makes key health appointment

Capita today announces the appointment of Dr Mike Warburton as a director within its health advisory practice. Mike will have specific responsibility for providing clinical input and supporting Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) development.

Mike has extensive experience from both a clinical and commissioning perspective. He was a practicing GP for 15 years before completing an MBA and taking a role as director of commissioning and chief operating officer within a PCT. Over the last three years Mike has worked at the Department of Health and led major, national programmes of change to support primary care. These included the GP access and responsiveness programme and the dental access programme.

Sarah Atkinson, managing director for Capita’s health advisory services comments: “Primary care as a whole, and GPs especially, are pioneering new ground at the moment with the development of CCGs. Mike has experience both as a GP and as a commissioner of services so he really understands the journey that these GPs are on and, as such, is perfectly placed to support them.”

Capita works in partnership with 300 NHS organisations, the Department of Health and its arm’s length bodies, supporting professionals to improve the whole patient experience by helping to improve efficiency, allowing more focus and funds for the front line.
