Celebrate Earth Day at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite April 22
Enjoy a weekend of environmental stewardship with family and friends by joining in an array of Earth Day events and specials.
Fish Camp, CA, April 12, 2011 (PressReleasePoint) -- Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite will be celebrating Earth Day (April 22) with specials and activities. Just as Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s environment, the events at Tenaya Lodge are designed to highlight the property’s year-round commitment to being environmentally-friendly.
Beginning with a menu of environmentally-conscious meals, Tenaya Lodge’s Sierra Restaurant and Jackalope’s Bar and Grill will be offering the following Earth Day specials on April 22: 1) Organic and sustainable heirloom tomato salad with organic watercress and local spiced almonds, served with valley honey-pistachio dressing. 2) Wilted organic spinach topped with trap caught sustainable shrimp, quinoa and local orange-tarragon salsa. Jackalope’s is 100% compliant with the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program by responsibly sourcing sustainable seafood to protect the oceans.
Outside of the restaurants, guests can partake in morning trail maintenance to help maintain the natural beauty that is found along the trails leading out of Tenaya Lodge. At 8 p.m., enjoy the trails and join Tenaya Lodge for a guided flashlight hike, using all-new solar flashlights.
Between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Earth Day, the gift shop will be offering the “Bear Adventure” blanket on sale for $39.99. This blanket is part Ramatex International’s “EARTH RAGZ,” a line of products made with eco-yarn comprised of 100% recycled fibers. Additionally, the Tenaya Lodge stainless steel travel mug will be discounted to $9.99. If you bring a disposable shopping bag with you to the gift shop during Earth Day, you can enjoy 20% off your entire purchase.
The Ascent Spa at Tenaya’s true total well-being philosophy creates and provides a unique integration of therapeutic services that are authentic and mindful of the natural surroundings. Ascent is proud to feature an exclusive line of handcrafted Kimberly Parry Organic, one of the highest-rated certified organic skin care lines available, that offers a combination of natural and sustainable herbal blends indigenous to the Southern Sierra. In celebration of Earth Day, 5% of all revenue on Kimberly Parry Organic spa products sold between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. will be donated to the Yosemite Conservancy.
Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite’s commitment to the environment is demonstrated throughout the year via its GreenPath Program, featuring organic spa products, energy conservation efforts and a significant recycle and reduce waste program (the environmental management program). Earth Day programs for the lodge’s employees include a highway clean-up event and a shuttle for its employees, to encourage car-pooling, which many already do.
