Champions to be crowned at Final Round of Woolworths Victorian Junior Titles at Jan Juc

Jan Juc, VIC/AUS  (Wednesday 3rd May, 2018): Victoria’s Surf Coast is set to host the final round of the Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles this weekend at Jan Juc that will crown Victorian Champions across 6 divisions.

The top junior surfers from across the state will converge on the consistent beach break of Jan Juc with the hope of being crowned state champion in their division and also locking in a position in the Victorian Junior Surfing Team that will contest the Australian Junior Surfing Titles later in the year.

After the completion of the Phillip Island and Gunnamatta rounds, the Under 16 Boys and Under 14 Girls divisions have already been decided with Codie Jeffery (Phillip Island) and Ellie Harrison (Barwon Heads) taking top honors.

The remaining divisions will be hotly contested throughout the weekend with over four surfers in each divisions still in contention for the state title.

“The final event of this series is always one of the most exciting events of the year” said Surfing Victoria CEO, Adam Robertson.

We have some incredible talent setting themselves up for a state title win and it will make for some exciting viewing across the weekend!

Surfers to watch throughout the weekend include former state champion Taj Sleeman (Wonthaggi), Patrick Hughes (Jan Juc), Willis Droomer (Jan Juc), Bella Wilson (Jan Juc), Sage Goldsbury (Phillip Island) and Poppy Corbett (Phillip Island) who will all be contesting for state titles.

Surfing Victoria Official Surf Forecaster is calling for a moderate groundswell filling in before the weekend under offshore winds on Saturday and stronger cross-shore winds on Sunday.

Competition will begin at 7.30am Saturday at Jan Juc Beach.

Future Australian surfing champions will receive further help to ride the wave to success, with Woolworths expanding its commitment to the sport to include Surfing Australia’s six affiliated State branches Woolworths State Junior Surfing Titles, with 18 events to be run nationally across 6 States in 2017/18.
