Charity Golf Tournament raises £14,520

Fundraising efforts on and off the course at Fulford Golf Clubhave enabled Drax to hand over a cheque for £14,520 to theYorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), almost half as much again as thetarget of £10,000 Drax had set for the day.

Teams including representatives from 54 of Drax’s suppliers andcontractors took part in the golf competition, staged for the fifthyear at the club in York.

Peter Emery, production director at Drax said: “We understandthat the swift medical interventions provided by the Yorkshire AirAmbulance have a major impact on a patient’s chance of survival andsubsequent quality of life and we are delighted to continue tosupport such a crucial emergency service.”

He added: “Each year our Charity Golf Day grows in popularityand is always an enjoyable event for everyone involved. We areextremely grateful as once again our suppliers and contractorsshowed overwhelming support for the event.

“Thanks to their generosity we are delighted to have againincreased the amount raised, and even beaten our target by asignificant amount - an incredible achievement for the 2011tournament.”

Bob Smailes, regional fundraising manager at the YAA said: “TheYorkshire Air Ambulance relies solely on the generosity ofindividuals and sponsors to help save lives across the region andwe are very grateful for the continued support of Drax.”
