Cherie Jacobs joins TECO Energy as corporate spokeswoman
TAMPA, May 26, 2011
TECO Energy today announced that Cherie Jacobs will become the new manager of media and public relations in Corporate Communications effective June 1, 2011.
Jacobs comes to TECO Energy with a solid background in the electric utility business and extensive experience in the media and business communications. Her most recent work experience includes seven years as spokeswoman for Progress Energy Florida. Prior to joining Progress Energy, Cherie was a journalist with the Tampa Tribune, Sarasota Herald-Tribune and The (Lakeland) Ledger.
TECO Energy Director of Corporate Communications Patrick Ho said, “Cherie’s extensive experience and knowledge of the utility industry and years as a journalist will add to our Corporate Communications Department’s solid base of communications professionals.”
Jacobs will replace Rick Morera as the corporate spokesperson for TECO Energy. Morera is retiring July 1, and will be working with Jacobs as she transitions into her new role.
TECO Energy, Inc. (NYSE: TE ) is an energy-related holding company. Its principal subsidiary,Tampa Electric Company, is a regulated utility in Florida with both electric and gas divisions (Tampa Electric andPeoples Gas System). Other subsidiaries include TECO Coal, which owns and operates coal production facilities in Kentucky and Virginia , and TECO Guatemala, which is engaged in electric power generation and distribution and energy-related businesses in Guatemala.
