Job Description

Robert Half Executive Search has been retained by a full-service commercial real estate development, construction, and management company to find a Chief Financial Officer.  This family owned business was founded in 1947 in the Pacific Northwest. The company has continued to grow and expand its development capabilities with their focus on their core retail business.  This is an opportunity to make an impact on a profitable, growing and stable business that is committed to investing in the company and its employees.  The position is based at the company’s headquarters in Vancouver, WA.

The CFO will serve as a confidant and report directly to the President and on certain occasions, Board of Directors. S/he will have overall responsibility for the organization’s financial activity, including financial plans and policies, accounting practices and treasury functions.  S/he will direct and control all the activities related to corporate accounting, finance, IT, tax, reporting and asset management.  The CFO will be tasked with refining a financial operating platform that provides a flow of management and financial reporting information to the executive team.  In addition, the CFO will architect and perform evaluative financial analyses for the company’s prospective acquisitions, contractual arrangements and business development opportunities.  The CFO will serve, in conjunction with the President, as the financial liaison with outside banking partners and the company’s individual development partners. S/he will have five (5) direct reports and will have oversight for a staff of fifty (50).

Responsibilities Include:

Assist President in determining corporate accounting policies and day-to-day operations and help set financial and business strategies

Provide leadership in the establishment, implementations, and maintenance of sound financial controls and reporting systems that provide the necessary financial data for management decision-making

Review and analyze legal documents such as management, partnership, loan, equity, purchase and sale, service and development agreements

Assist the development manager in evaluation of a project, such as pro forma preparation and/or title and legal matters

Assist in the acquisitions and dispositions of property, including all 1031 exchanges

Assist with the lender and joint venture partner reporting requirements, information requests, and loan covenants

Arrange debt financing for all to-be developed properties and portfolio properties as needed

Maintain lender relations and help grow relationships with new lenders

Prepare and review various loan status and financial reports

Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, etc.


Requirements:

BS Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is required, Graduate degree and CPA is preferred

15 years of financial management and/or accounting experience, including work in a managerial capacity with a majority of experience in commercial real estate
