China Sourcing Report: Cables & Assemblies offers buyers verified suppliers of A/V, computer, telecom and networking cables and assemblies

HONG KONG, Mar. 22, 2010- China's cable and assembly suppliers are gearing up for strong sales growth in 2010, after experiencing a challenging export environment last year. This is according to Global Sources' (NASDAQ: GSOL) China Sourcing Report: Cables & Assemblies (http://www.ChinaSourcingReports.com/cablesassemblies09).

The Report covers A/V, computer, telecom and networking cables and assemblies.

Almost 60 percent of suppliers surveyed expect revenue to increase by more than 20 percent in the coming months. The rest predict sales growth to be between 10 and 20 percent.

"Suppliers are banking on recovering demand from the consumer electronics, computer and telecom sectors worldwide to sustain growth," said Mark A. Saunderson, Publisher of the Report. "They are also focusing on growing overseas sales to markets such as India and Russia to boost sales."

While 63 percent of surveyed exporters plan to continue focusing on the U.S. and the EU, other suppliers said they intend to emphasize on emerging markets including the Asia Pacific Region (14 percent) and non-European countries (9 percent) to grow sales.

Suppliers i

mproving export capability

In anticipation of increased orders, manufacturers are planning to expand investments in factory upgrades and product enhancements.

Eighty-six percent of survey respondents said they intend to raise capital expenditure by 20 to 50 percent; 9 percent expect budget expansions of more than 50 percent; and 5 percent are planning for investments of up to 20 percent.

"Several suppliers have set up new factories, while others are procuring advanced manufacturing and testing equipment. Among suppliers we surveyed, 41 percent said they plan to focus on improving operating efficiency to improve their export capability," Saunderson said.

As they attempt to become more competitive in overseas markets, exporters are widening their product ranges to focus on newer technologies. Companies in the A/V cables and assemblies sector, for example, are expanding output of HDMI and DisplayPort products, which are steadily gaining popularity.
