Helping 1600 Children and Families During Hopefest Phoenix 2014
Phoenix, Ariz. (March 31, 2014) – On Friday, April 4, Feed The Children will deliver two semi tractor-trailers full of food and essentials to help 1,600 Phoenix area families. The two trucks will arrive on Friday, April 4, at 9 a.m. at Chase Field in Phoenix (401 East Jefferson). The distribution will take place on Saturday, April 5, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Nearly one in three children living in Phoenix (36 percent) is considered impoverished. In fact, the number of children living in poverty in Arizona (429,000) could fill Chase Field more than eight times.
The 25-pound box of food and the 10-pound box of personal care items are designed to help a families of four for up to one week. Volunteers will hand out the boxes during HopeFest.
CityServe Arizona's HopeFest Phoenix brings the community together to meet the immediate needs of our underserved neighbors, and then connects them to resources that provide them with long-term solutions and stability. Through a collaboration of helping agencies, organizations, and individuals, thousands of people receive free medical, dental, vision, food, housing, haircuts, clothing, personal care products, employment services, child safety needs and much more.
The Americans Feeding Americans Caravan has helped hundreds of thousands of families across the country since it began in 2009. Volunteers will be on hand to help distribute boxes.
“We are so thankful to CityServe for helping to provide food and essentials to children and their families,” said Erin Engelke, spokesperson for Feed The Children.
