Dispersed Object Storage Vendor Relies on Apposite’s WAN Emulators for Testing

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 12, 2013) – Apposite^® Technologies today announced that has selected Apposite’s Netropy^® network emulators for testing the performance of Cleversafe’s storage products over wide area networks.

The world's largest data repositories rely on Cleversafe’s dispersed object storage technology, which provides redundancy by simultaneously storing objects on multiple storage nodes across physically dispersed locations. WAN impairments such as latency and packet loss complicate synchronizing the multiple copies and require comprehensive functional and stability testing to ensure optimal performance.

After extensive evaluation, Cleversafe selected the Netropy WAN emulation products to test their products across a wide range of network conditions. According to Niall McShane, Director of System Integration at Cleversafe, "The most important factor for us was stability so that we could run continuous, long-term tests, and the reliability of the Netropy emulator made that possible. Combined with more flexibility to vary network conditions than other emulators and at a far better price point, Netropy was an easy choice for us."

The Netropy WAN emulator is available in three models, the N60, N90, and 10G2 to simulate any type of network from low speed links to multiple 10 Gbps connections.
