(Jun 9, 2009, Tainan) Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) is slated to exhibit its latest LCD panel technologies tomorrow at the three-day (June 10-12) Display Taiwan 2009 event in Taipei. CMO's shift toward greener panel products over these last few years can be seen with LED backlighting, reduced power consumption, and thin form factor. CMO moved into even higher gear in its further panel upgrade R&D efforts to offer consumers an all new experience in full high definition (FHD) green viewing, leading the next wave in market trends.

LCD TV panels: 120Hz driving and MEMC chips with new integrated framework and public display applications

CMO will be showing the flat panel industry's first new integrated products including 120Hz full high definition TV panels equipped with Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation (MEMC) chip technology. These panels, from materials and production to sales, form an integrated framework that effectively boosts competitiveness in terms of cost and market timeliness, winning kudos from customers. CMO will be unveiling its full line of innovative, integrated 120Hz FHD TV panels including 120Hz driving technology, greatly reducing motion blurring. CMO's panels have an exclusive de-judder feature, assuring that the quality of moving images is smooth so as to provide maximum viewing enjoyment.

CMO's 55" FHD (1920x1080) panel, the first LCD panel to successfully span the home entertainment and public display markets, garnered the Taiwan Excellence Award this year for its outstanding features. At 500-nit brightness, 5000:1 contrast, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast, and with a turnkey solution pairing 120Hz driving and MEMC technology, the 55" panel is able to effectively improve image quality. In terms of environmental features, compared with similarly positioned products on the market, it can save power consumption by 50% or more and has the lowest mercury content as well.

In other news, expecting the LED TV market to begin to heat up during the second half of this year, CMO will be exhibiting its 42' LED FHD TV panel, the first in this line of products, showcasing its ultra-slim design at only 12mm thick, one-third the size of traditional CCFL panels. This panel comes equipped with environmentally friendly low power consumption and mercury-free LEDs. The full line of large-size LED FHD TV panels is slated for mass production in the second half of the year.

Monitor display panels for computer and desktop applications: Leading LED green product design to meet high definition demand

In preparation for the coming Blu-ray DVD and digital television high definition entertainment era, CMO has moved quickly to develop a new line of 16:9 format monitor panels, leading the industry to bring consumers display systems that will enable them to enjoy digital content. Monitor panels to be exhibited at the show include 23.6" FHD, 21.5" FHD, 20" HD+ (1600 x 900), 18.5" HD desktop display models, as well as 15.6" HD, 14" HD, 11.6" HD panels for notebook computer applications. This line of panels demonstrates CMO's strength in monitor display panel R&D, with its LED backlighting, thin form factor, and other green design features, moving high definition vivid imaging viewing to the forefront.

Special-application and intelligent mobile phone panels

At Display Taiwan 2009 this year, CMO will be exhibiting its line of LED special application panels, including 10.4" XGA and 12.1" XGA industrial display panels, and 7" WVGA and 8" WVGA automotive display panels. The 10.4" XGA panel features sunlight readable technology, has high brightness backlight module and low glare polarized surface treatment. Its special structural design can also combine digitizer sensing technology for touch panel control operation, providing a greater range of application possibilities for portable devices. The 10.4" XGA panel is slated for mass production in the fourth quarter this year. CMO will also be showing its 3.5" WVGA intelligent mobile phone panels with 269 ppi resolution (480 x 800) and comes equipped with high color saturation (NTSC 75%) and MVA wide-angle viewing design. Manufactured using the a-Si high conformance rate mass production process, this panel has also been developed with cost competitiveness in mind.

CMO will also be highlighting the following technology at FPD Taiwan 2009. CMO invites everyone to come and experience these innovations first hand at the show!

Large-size LCD display technology focus includes:

‧55" ultra slim 9.9mm TV panel: World's largest and thinnest panel with LED local dimming technology
‧57" vivid motion technology: World’s first true 240Hz processing panel providing the best vivid motion quality performance available.
‧milli-Power power saving technology: Used in the 15.6" notebook computer panel, with the lowest average power consumption at 1W
‧Fresco TV ultra slim technology: World's thinnest 42" CCFL TV panel measuring only 14mm thick
‧Local Blasting imaging technology: peak brightness can achieve up to 2000 nits, a four-fold advantage over most LCD TVs, with dynamic contrast of up to 80000000:1, currently the highest in the world.
‧8" LCD panel's Two-color CF Display imaging technology: Color saturation of an amazing 112% NTSC
