The Coastal Plain League announced today their new Petitt Cup Playoffs brand identity.

With our current playoffs structure, we were looking for a set of logos that encompassed the spirit of our playoffs,” said CPL Commissioner Justin Sellers. “The identity that Skye and his design firm have created for the CPL is outstanding and allows us to further achieve our goal of being professionally represented.”

The Petitt Cup Playoffs start Wednesday, August 6 and run through August 16. Eight teams have qualified - four in the East and four in the West. There are three rounds of best-of-three series to be played that will result in one team being crowed the 2014 CPL Petitt Cup Champion.

The 2014 Petitt Cup Playoffs identity system was developed by Skye Design Studios (, a brand identity and design firm located in the greater New York City area. There were a set of logos created to help mirror that of Major League Baseball with regards to their playoffs structure. The first round is labeled the East and West Division Series, the second round the East and West Championship Series and then the final round being called the Petitt Cup Playoffs Championship Series.

“Our objective was to elevate the postseason identity for the Coastal Plain League by creating a consistent family of marks, and in doing so, position the CPL as a premier summer collegiate baseball league nationally,” said Skye Dillon, owner of Skye Design Studios. “Each logo in the system features the Petitt Cup trophy, and a metallic treatment was applied to all corresponding wordmarks, mimicking the texture of the actual cup.”
