Colibrys SA Relocates to New Premises in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland
Colibrys SA, a world leading manufacturer of sensors for precision navigation and seismic monitoring announced today their decision to relocate locally.
Neuchatel, Switzerland, February 08, 2012 - (PressReleasePoint) - Colibrys SA, a world leading manufacturer of sensors for precision navigation and seismic monitoring announced today their decision to relocate locally, some 35kms distant in the Y-Parc at Yverdon-les-Bains, Canton Vaud, Switzerland.
The relocation which encompasses all parts of the Colibrys business will be completed by mid 2013. The project is supported by some 10mio USD investment in support of dedicated new clean-rooms for the manufacture of 6 inch silicon wafers; advanced assembly and test capabilities as well as all systems design, product engineering and administration activities.
Colibrys will benefit enormously in the medium term from this decision, profiting from substantial rent reductions whilst benefiting from being housed in extremely modern eco-friendly premises. The new premises owned by Meigerhorn were constructed within the heart of the Y-Parc technology centre in 2010 targeted specifically to house multiple high tech SME businesses.
Sean Neylon, CEO of Colibrys was quoted saying “This move has been under negotiation now for 12 months. All our stakeholders will benefit directly and indirectly from the financial benefits implicit in this decision. This will allow us to reinvest further in expanding our business into medical and industrial markets, extending our already substantial investments into new product developments, reinforcing our customer support services worldwide and further improving the social benefits for our employees. We are a world leader in high reliability MEMS based motion sensors and we intend to establish this new business centre as our headquarters for significant design and manufacturing expansion over the coming years.”

About MEMS Technology
MEMS (Micro-EIectrical-Mechanical Systems) are micro electro-mechanical structures defined principally in silicon, glass or polymeric materials using techniques similar to traditional integrated circuit process technology. These devices can combine mechanical and/or optical and/or fluidic and electrical elements to provide basic sensing or actuating functions. These sensing or actuating elements can be combined with discrete or monolithic microelectronic integrated circuits to create miniature microsystems capable of providing exceptionally small, ruggedized, low cost functionality historically not imaginable with traditional macro mechanical technology. Day-to-day examples include tilt and navigational / orientation sensors, microphones and altimeters found in most of today’s mobile phones, tablets and multi-media products.
