UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The College Colors Day Spirit Cup competition begins on Friday, Aug. 1 and continues throughout the month until Thursday, Aug. 28. This year's competition will be scored via fan engagement on social media through a point system. Penn State supporters that share school-spirited images using the hashtags #psu and #collegecolors on Twitter and Instagram earn points for the university.
In addition, fans can earn 50 points for their school by downloading the College Colors mobile app. The app presents the opportunity for users to customize photos prior to sharing. Click here to download the app: http://www.collegecolorsday.com/download
The university with the most points will win this year's Spirit Cup competition, and receive a $10,000 scholarship fund donation. This year, the winner will be announced on College Colors Day, August 29. To celebrate, fans are encouraged to wear their favorite college apparel on August 29.
Penn State won the inaugural College Colors Day Spirit Cup in 2012 and finished in second place to the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2013.
College Colors Day is an annual event that celebrates the beginning of the academic and athletic year. The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG College and NCAA Football, presents the competition. Over 12,000 retail locations will be promoting the program throughout the competition.
