Command Medical Products Sponsors Volusia Manufacturers Association Upcoming Manufacturers Expo 2010
Command Medical Products sponsors the Volusia Manufacturers Association’s upcoming Manufacturers Expo 2010 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Command Medical Products recently became a platinum sponsor for the upcoming Volusia Manufacturers Expo 2010. Command Medical Products, Inc. was founded in 1987 by the current President and CEO, David T. Slick, Sr. While working in the manufacturing business in his native Ohio, Mr. David Slick identified a trend of outsourcing in the medical products area. Mr. Slick established Command Medical Products, Inc. in Ormond Beach, Florida. Command Medical was established to serve the medical device industry’s need for outsourced manufacturing. Command’s core capabilities include radio frequency (RF) welding, custom PVC tube extrusion, assembly and packaging as well as sterilization management. Command Medical Products gained success as a contract manufacturer of custom specialty devices offering turnkey solutions. In addition to being registered with the FDA, the company is also ISO 13485:2003 certified.
The success of Command Medical Product’s production strategy was quickly recognized by Inc. 500 as one of the fastest growing privately held corporations. At that time, Command Medical Products underwent a facility expansion at their Ormond Beach facility. Continued success resulted in a second expansion in 2005 with an offshore manufacturing plant in Managua, Nicaragua. This new facility operates under the same ISO 13485 Quality System regulations as the Ormond Beach facility as many of the products manufactured are distributed in the United States and fall under FDA regulations. This location in Nicaragua allows for cost effective manufacturing of its higher volume medical products that require higher labor manufacturing input. The Nicaragua facility is located in an ideal area, just outside the Managua airport in the country's largest free trade zone and is thriving with a very stable labor market.
Drawing on the benefits of the competitive labor environment, Command Medical Products can now participate in the high volume, cost sensitive stages of the product lifecycle. With both facilities working together, Command is now positioned to take products from clinical trials through product introduction and ramp up phases. As products transition to higher volumes, the facilities and staffing are prepared to manage those transitions with the process changes associated with each phase of production.
Command Medical Products’ plastic processing technologies enables them to manufacturer a multitude of plastic disposable medical devices such as administration sets, catheters, IV bags, blood tubing and dialysis systems and gastric lavage kits. Command Medical’s services include:
