Company responsible for “one small step for man” transmission from moon confirms as keynote sponsor of the 4th annual CIO Strategies India Forum
Bangalore, February 25th 2010 – Designer, manufacturer and marketer of lightweight communications headset products, Plantronics Inc – who is responsible for the product that transmitted the “one small step for man” message from the moon in 1969 - has confirmed participation as a keynote sponsor at the 4th annual CIO Strategies India Forum. The forum – taking place from March 18th – 19th 2010 in Mumbai, India – brings India’s top CIOs and solution providers together in order to facilitate business, network, share knowledge and debate the future of India’s CIOs and information sector.
Speaking about the present state of IT in India, Country Director for Plantronics Inc, Bobby Joseph said: “IT is helping organisations drive productivity and is an integral part of all businesses, irrespective of their sectors. Today most IT strategies, as well as initiatives on technology migration within organisations, are being driven by CIOs.”
Joseph added: “In the current economic climate, costs – including communication costs - have become a key factor to focus on. With technologies like Unified Communications (UC) being discussed by several customers, I think communication is going to be a key area of interest for all organisations. The number of devices used for communication today needs some form of integration to make life easier for end-users.”
Joseph, who said that the “headset solutions were predominantly used in India’s contact centres”, explained that headsets - if used properly - they could save time and money and enhance delivery dramatically.
Joseph concluded: “The amount of time an employee spends on the phone each day necessitates the need to use a headset solution. Economic conditions have also contributed to employers wanting their employees to deliver more, under pressure, while VOIP technology is entering businesses to enhance cost savings. A good headset – wired and wireless – will help facilitate all of the above.”
Plantronics headsets are widely used in many Fortune 500 corporations and have been featured in numerous films and high-profile events. The company is a publically held company (NYSE:PLT) and has its headquarters in Santa Cruz, California.
