CompTIA Adds New E-learning Options to Channel Training Curriculum
Leading industry group offers anytime, anywhere, any device access to educational offerings
Downers Grove, Ill., March 12, 2013 – CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, said today it will add new e-learning options to its comprehensive education and training programs for the IT channel.
CompTIA Executive Certificate programs in cloud computing, mobile technologies and IT security will be available in e-learning modules beginning April 1. Additional courses will be added in the coming months.
“We’ve created these interactive e-learning courses to help busy IT channel professionals accomplish their training needs on their own time and at their own pace,” said Kelly Ricker, senior vice president, events and education, CompTIA. “The courses can be accessed anytime, from anywhere and on any device.”
CompTIA Executive Certificate programs are developed by leading experts in the IT industry and are delivered by CompTIA Authorized Channel Instructors. Each course is intended to help IT solution providers enhance their current businesses with successful niche practices. Solution providers learn best practices and experience opportunities for interacting with and learning from their peers.
Courses available April 1 to CompTIA members in the e-learning format will include:
• Executive Certificate in Cloud (Intermediate), which addresses the specific "how’s" of profitably integrating cloud-based IT services into a solution provider’s business.
• Executive Certificate in Mobility (Foundations) examines different opportunities in the mobile space and investigates a framework for establishing a mobile strategy.
• Executive Certificate in IT Security (Foundations) facilitates a solution provider's transformation into a trusted IT security advisor.
All e-learning courses include scenario-based learning opportunities, case studies and other interactive exercises designed to maintain learner engagement throughout the course. Similar to the instructor-led versions of these courses, each e-learning course ends with a course assessment.
To receive an executive certificate, participants must complete all courses and pass the assessments for each course in a specific executive certificate program.
Capstone sessions are the final piece to completing an e-learning Executive Certificate. Once an individual has taken all the self-paced courses and passed the assessments for an Executive Certificate program online, they can register for a Capstone Session, which may be completed as a live webinar or face-to-face during a CompTIA or CompTIA member event. Facilitated by authorized CompTIA instructors, these one-hour sessions provide an opportunity to discuss the concepts from the self-paced courses with peers, and apply them to real-world situations.
New Training Offerings
In addition to the new e-learning options, CompTIA has added several new courses to its channel training curriculum for Spring 2013.
The Executive Certificate in Channel Management program for technology vendors offers those in channel management roles opportunities to further develop the skills and knowledge necessary to lead initiatives and investments that drive indirect sales revenue.
New Quick Start Guides and Quick Start Sessions on mobile marketing, the CompTIA Managed Print Trustmark and opportunities in the retail market have been added to the course catalog.
The Quick Start Guide and Quick Start Session on IT security have been updated.
The new e-learning programs and all channel training offerings are available to all CompTIA members. Vendor and distributor members can offer CompTIA e-learning courses to their partner base through their own partner portals. Solution provider members have the option of participating in e-learning through CompTIA or through one of their vendor or distribution partners. Non-member solution providers can enroll in many of the courses through a number of participating vendors and distributors. Visit CompTIA Channel Training to learn more.
