CompTIA and Field Nation Expand Collaboration
Organizations team to identify employment opportunities for CompTIA-certified IT professionals
Downers Grove, Ill., March 7, 2013 – CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, and Field Nation, a provider of independent service technicians to the computer service industry, today announced they are teaming together to promote employment opportunities for CompTIA-certified IT professionals.
Field Nation has developed an online resource – www.fieldnation.com/comptia – for contract IT service and support technicians that identifies job opportunities requiring CompTIA certifications.Through this website IT professionals gain access to thousands of new jobs daily that require CompTIA certifications. The site is easily searchable by the certifications required, the type of work needed and the location of the job.
Employers can fill their temporary staffing needs by using Field Nation’s flexible cloud-based program to post contractor positions to more than 35,000 skilled IT technicians. Once an employer posts a position and a finds a match, Field Nation makes it easy to manage both the contractor and the project from start to finish.
“As more organizations turn to contract talent for their IT needs, it’s essential to put the best possible person in front of the customer,” said Terry Erdle, executive vice president, skills certification, CompTIA. “One way to do that is to make sure the IT professionals are CompTIA-certified. We’re pleased to expand our work with Field Nation to build on the strong skills and qualifications their service professionals already have.”
The two organizations have worked collaboratively since 2011 when Field Nation joined the CompTIA A+® Certification Advisory Committee.
“We have enormous levels of respect for everything CompTIA does to support the IT industry and in particular, the technical professionals who make it tick,” said Mynul Khan, founder and chief executive officer, Field Nation. “CompTIA works under the broad idea of ‘Learn, Certify and Work.’ We want to really help fulfill the ‘work’ portion of that mission.”
With more than 1.6 million certifications awarded worldwide, CompTIA is the largest provider of vendor-neutral certifications for IT professionals. These certifications are the recognized industry standards for a broad range of technology skills, including IT fundamentals, repair and technical support, networking, security, server, storage, Linux, project management, printing and document imaging, convergence technologies, health IT, green IT and cloud computing.
Organizations rely on CompTIA certifications when hiring IT contractors and staff because certified workers have a greater ability to understand new and complex technologies; are more productive; and bring more insightful problem-solving to the workplace. A 2011 CompTIA study on the roles and responsibilities of IT technicians found that certified technicians included offer employers more efficient troubleshooting; greater productivity; more insightful problem solving; and an improved ability to understand new or complex technologies.
