Conan O’Brien Ordained With Universal Life Church to Perform Gay Marriage
Conan O’Brien will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of his TBS late night show, Conan, by officiating a gay wedding between one of his long-time staff members and his partner. O’Brien was ordained through the Universal Life Church earlier in the week, and the wedding will take place live on his show on Thursday, filmed in New York’s Beacon Theater.
Seattle, WA, United States., November 4, 2011 - (PressReleasePoint) - Conan O’Brien will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of his TBS late night show, Conan, by officiating a gay wedding between one of his long-time staff members and his partner. O’Brien was ordained through the Universal Life Church earlier in the week, and the wedding will take place live on his show on Thursday, filmed in New York’s Beacon Theater.
O’Brien filmed his last show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, for 16 years in New York before moving to Los Angeles for Conan, and he returns to NYC for a week-long celebration of Conan’s first year. The final event in O’Brien’s week of shows is the wedding of the long-time staff member and his partner, officiated by O’Brien.
New York State legalized gay marriage in June, 2011. The Universal Life Church supports the rights of everyone in America to be married in a meaningful and intimate way and enjoy the legal, emotional and societal privileges that extend from matrimony. O’Brien became ordained through the Universal Life Church on Oct. 21st, and received the New York wedding package to perform the legal ceremony.
