OAK BROOK, IL – July 29, 2014 – Configure One™ (www.configureone.com), a leading provider of web-based product configurator and CPQ (configure, price, quote) software, today announced that Wagstaff, Inc.— a 65-year-old manufacturing company that provides customized, advanced aluminum direct-chill solidification technology to rolling ingot and extrusion billet producers worldwide—selected Configure One’s Concept Enterprise Product Configurator® after a comprehensive evaluation.
During the past 20 years, Wagstaff had developed a myriad of systems to support the configure, price, quote process. “We have many silos of information and databases that aren’t connected,” said Turina McClelland, Marketing Communications Specialist. “We have multiple product configurators and they are not integrated with our pricing system. These antiquated systems make it very difficult to provide manufacturing with an accurate forecast of upcoming work. We see this as an opportunity to streamline the entire quote-to-production process.”
“Currently, it requires multiple people to create a proposal,” said Lee Swartling, Vice-President, Sales & Marketing. “Not only do we want to reduce the time it takes to create a proposal, but also to give our sales force the capability to create their own quotes in the field.”
Wagstaff develops, engineers, designs, and manufactures sophisticated molds, casting machines, automated systems, and ancillary equipment at its Spokane and Kentucky facilities. “We are an engineer-to-order company,” said McClelland. “We were looking for a product configurator that could support our style of business. Wagstaff’s equipment is installed in 54 countries around the world. Therefore, the software had to be flexible and capable of supporting a global company. In addition, it had to integrate with our Microsoft Dynamics CRM and JD Edwards ERP systems.”
After a comprehensive evaluation, Wagstaff selected Configure One’s Concept Enterprise Product Configurator®. “There were many areas where Configure One excelled above its competitors,” said McClelland. “It was clearly the best fit for an engineer-to-order business model. Concept’s flexibility, support for multi-language and currencies, really supports a global business.” “Configure One was the only vendor that met all of our requirements,” added Swartling.
According to McClelland, Wagstaff is expecting to receive many benefits from the implementation of Concept. “By providing our international sales force with the ability to create their own quotes in the field, we expect to reduce the lead time to create a proposal by 50%. Currently, this can take between one to four weeks, depending on the complexity and who’s available in the office. Concept will capture all of the ‘tribal knowledge’ and make it available to more people via configuration rules. By replacing some of our legacy systems, we will reduce errors by eliminating the need to re-key data from one system to another. Overall, by integrating with our Microsoft Dynamics CRM and JD Edwards ERP systems, Concept will streamline the entire quote-to-production process, saving time and increasing accuracy.”
“Concept will not only reduce the proposal lead time, but also produce more consistent and accurate proposals,” said Swartling. “Many of our proposals are budget-type quotes used for investment requests. Concept will enable our sales force to generate their own quotes, and free up our engineers and technical experts to work on more complex proposals.”
“Over the years, Configure One has invested to provide our customers with the functionality to support an international operation,” said Aleks La Rosa, a Senior Sales Executive with Configure One. “The fact that a global company, such as Wagstaff, has selected Configure One to support its operations worldwide is an endorsement of our strategy.”
