Confio to Host Webinar on Fine-Tuning Oracle Execution Plans

BOULDER, Colo. - January 15, 2013 -  Next week Confio Software will host a free, live webinar offering tips and best practices for fine tuning an Oracle execution plan. In this webinar, called "Fine Tune Oracle Execution Plans for Performance Gains," attendees will learn how to gain a solid understanding of the different operators found in an execution plan, their order of execution and how they consume resources. Armed with this knowledge, DBAs can tune their execution plans accordingly to ensure top performance of their Oracle database.

The webinar will take place Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 2:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. UTC/GMT. Confio's Sr. DBA and performance expert, Janis Griffin, will host the webinar and demonstrate the best methods for collecting execution plans, and provide tips on tuning the best execution plan.

 "One of the most common performance issues DBAs encounter are bad execution plans," says Griffin. "Many try to resolve bad executions plans by setting Oracle optimizer-related parameters or even hidden underscore parameters. I believe DBAs will get better results if they understand the current execution plan and why the Oracle optimizer is deciding to choose that plan."

Janis Griffin is a Senior DBA with over 20 years of database administration experience including design, development and implementation of critical database applications. Before coming to Confio, Janis held DBA positions primarily in the telecom industry, working with both real-time network routing databases and OLTP business to business applications. Janis was also a Principal Architect and Senior Manager, mentoring other DBAs on best practices in database performance tuning.
