CORT Rental Services Accelerating Stimulus Projects for Agencies and Contractors
CORT, on the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule, is helping accelerate “shovel-ready” stimulus projects.
FAIRFAX, VA (June 9, 2009) – Getting teams on the job quickly is a paramount objective of federal agencies and contractors marshalling support for economic stimulus projects. CORT has seen a rapid growth in the demand for rental services in support of the stimulus initiatives.
CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is the only national furniture rental company and the most experienced provider of rental furnishings on the GSA Schedule.
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, billions of dollars in “shovel-ready” projects are planned in every state for infrastructure, energy, education, healthcare and technology. Most stimulus projects have a limited time horizon, making furniture rental an ideal option that removes the burden of managing and storing furniture. With the nation’s largest inventory of rental furnishings ready to be delivered from over 70 distribution centers across the country, offices can be set up within three days. For many agencies, rental is applied as a monthly operating expense, allowing the flexibility to fund projects, including furniture, for limited periods of time.
In addition, CORT can help employees locate housing near the job site, provide orientation tours of the area, ship household goods needed for temporary assignments, and arrange for furniture rental and utility connections.
“As agencies and companies need to get to work quickly, many have turned to CORT to assist with office and residential furnishings,” said Peggy Moore, CORT’s senior government manager. “We have the industry’s most comprehensive range of services to get people and companies mobilized quickly. CORT can deliver the furniture you need, when you need it. We also can help you plan the use of your office space. Just give us a floor plan, the projected headcount and budget, and we’ll take care of the rest.”
CORT has a successful track record over the past four decades of supporting the federal government, U.S. military and private sector companies to establish offices across the country. For example, CORT is currently in the process of managing and providing all office furnishings for the 2010 census, establishing more than 500 offices across the nation, just as CORT did for the 2000 Census.
“This contract is about more than the delivery of furniture,” said Mark Taylor, former Census employee and current Senior Management Consultant supporting the Census Bureau on this contract. “CORT proposed a comprehensive plan that was so detailed as to include the removal of all packaging materials and debris. We are confident that when the CORT trucks pull away from the Census office, our teams will be ready to start operations.”
Continuity of Operation for Federal Agencies and U.S. Military
CORT has been called on extensively to support relief and continuity of operation emergencies in the aftermath of hurricanes, fires, floods and other disasters. CORT helps agencies establish temporary offices quickly and provide relief to residents including quick assistance to find housing through the company’s long-standing partnerships with apartment communities and its free online ApartmentSearch.com service. In addition, CORT provides rental furniture, housewares and appliances for homes.
CORT is an emergency services provider for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Red Cross, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Pentagon, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Federal Courts, the National Guard, and many other agencies.
