Toronto: Earlier today, Toronto City Council took the almost final step towards growing the Greenbelt into public lands along the Don and Humber River Valleys and Etobicoke Creek.

“This is a great day for the Greenbelt, for our urban river valleys and for Torontonians,” said Dr. Franz Hartmann, Executive Director of the Toronto Environmental Alliance. “Extending the Greenbelt into Toronto will go a long way towards further connecting Toronto to the world famous Greenbelt.

“Council has made it clear they want to grow the Greenbelt into Toronto,” said Hartmann. “The next and final step will be to report back to Council in February 2015, with an exact map of which public lands to include.”
