After considering multiple vendors, Cozen O’Connor turned to Recommind’s Decisiv Search for a sophisticated search application in order to provide more than 575 lawyers, dispersed across 23 offices in the United States, Canada and England, with highly accurate enterprise search results tailored to the specific requirements of the law firm. By replacing its previous search tool with the industry’s leading concept-based enterprise search technology - Cozen O’Connor can provide its over 1,200 users with the flexibility to search intuitively and find relevant information and knowledge matters across multiple repositories.

Recommind’s Decisiv information management technology enables users to search across internal and external data sources with a single query, which increases user productivity by integrating the same results and highlighting specified terms. If new sources are needed, the process to add them is quick and easy through a unified query syntax, allowing Decisiv Search to crawl and index information from any source, including document management systems, intranets, email archives, contact management databases and web sites. As documents change and new information is added, Decisiv Search will continue to crawl and update the models during the document review process, ensuring that the most current and accurate information is available to all users throughout the law firm.

Cozen O’Connor also chose to include the Matters & Expertise module to extend the features and functionality of Decisiv Search, providing a complete view of matters and streamlined access to expertise across the firm. Matters & Expertise includes information found in practice management systems, billing systems, CRM and contact management systems to extend the capability of enterprise search even further.

In addition, the QwikFind toolbar allows users to search for internal documents, matters and expert information directly from their desktop. The toolbar is also embedded in multiple Microsoft products, including Word, Excel and Outlook, allowing the user to perform a search, without opening a separate program.
