Credit Suisse Hires Simon Yuan as Co-head of Financial Institutions Greater China Coverage

Hong Kong,  June 16, 2009

Credit Suisse announced today the appointment of Simon Yuan (袁崢怡先生) as a managing director and Co-head of Financial Institutions Greater China coverage team in the Investment Banking Department. Mr Yuan will spearhead the Bank's efforts to deliver more integrated financing and advisory products to its Chinese financial institution clients.

Mr Yuan will play a key role in developing relationships, originating and executing transactions for the Bank's financial institution clients, working closely with Janice Hu in her capacity as Co-head of Financial Institutions China and the China coverage team. Based in Hong Kong, Mr Yuan will report to Rob Jesudason, Head of Financial Institutions Coverage in Asia Pacific, and Liping Zhang, Head of Greater China Investment Banking Department.

Mr Yuan joins us from Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong where he had worked since 2004. During that time, he was Head of China Financial Institutions Group.

Mr Zhang said, "Simon brings a wealth of experience and ideas to Credit Suisse, having been heavily involved with many high profile restructurings, capital raisings and cross-border M&As in the Chinese financial sector."

Mr Jesudason added, "His appointment is an important step in helping to drive the growth of our financial institutions business, which is a cornerstone to further develop our investment banking franchise in the region."
