New students at the University of Colorado Boulder will be greeted with dozens of activities including a welcome convocation, a Folsom Field pep rally and a “Global Jam” international food and music fest during Week of Welcome beginning Aug. 21.
The free events give new students a chance to get acquainted with each other, the campus and surrounding community before classes start on Aug. 25. The activities are scheduled in addition to orientation sessions that cover the details of class registration, policies and student services at each college.
The University of Colorado Boulder’s Baker Hall, closed the past 15 months for its first major renovation in more than 75 years, is welcoming 456 students next week with a modernized interior that better addresses the needs of today’s students while retaining the building’s original charm.
New and returning students moving into the University of Colorado Boulder residence halls can choose which day to move in Aug. 18-21, will swipe Buff OneCards instead of filling out a form to check in and will be able to take advantage of “Quick Drop Stations.”
“We take pride in doing our best to provide a warm welcome and a helping hand for our new and returning students,” said John Fox, associate director of Residence Life. “This year we decided to make some changes in order to make the process as smooth as possible.”
