HOUSTON, March 4, 2009– BMC Software (NYSE: BMC) today announced the availability of an important customer video highlighting the successful implementation of BMC MAINVIEW and APPTUNE for DB2 solutions by Banco BPI.

Banco BPI, a Portugal-based financial institution with branches in Spain, France and Venezuela, relies on BMC to deliver faster, user friendly products and solutions to cut down production time and add overall value to the business.

Banco BPI relies on two mainframes supporting three integral systems – production, quality and development – with about 1600 MIPS. “With that, we do the same amount as banks do with double, triple or four times the same MIPS,” stated Paula Teotonio, systems engineer for Banco BPI.

By implementing BMC MAINVIEW for DB2, Banco BPI has access to the most comprehensive set of monitoring and management tools available for DB2. In addition, BMC APPTUNE for DB2 provides the most accurate information on SQL statement performance and DB2 object performance characteristics while minimizing resources consumed in gathering information.

“We also have cases of success with APPTUNE for DB2 where we saved lots of MIPS and CPU cycles,” continued Paula Teotonio.  “We can for example turn a job from running in one hour to one minute.”
