Dürr wins new customer in China with the Shanxi Victory Group

Dürr continues writing its success story in China: the plant manufacturer based in Bietigheim, Germany, will create a new automotive paint shop with a contract volume of more than 30 million € for the Shanxi Victory Group at its Changzhi location in Shanxi Province. Dürr is responsible for the construction of the complete paint shop, including the application technology.

Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, April 4, 2011 – Dürr continues writing its success story in China: the plant manufacturer based in Bietigheim, Germany, will create a new automotive paint shop with a contract volume of more than 30 million € for the Shanxi Victory Group at its Changzhi location in Shanxi Province. This province, as well as this customer, has previously been better known for its activities in the mining field.

Shanxi is expanding its activities and will produce minivans in the future. For this venture, the Shanxi Victory Group has brought on board the general contractor Dürr, who has been able to score points with its many turnkey references throughout China. Dürr is responsible for the construction of the complete paint shop, including the application technology.

Shanxi relies on the proven technology of the pendulum conveyor in the PT/ED area. Painting will take place in a primerless “2 Wet 1 Bake” process. This means application of base coat and clear coat in a wet-on-wet process with 10 Dürr EcoRP L033 painting robots, and thus an intermediate dryer is not needed. A solvent-based paint with a high solid content is used, whose paint mist is bound by a conventional wet separation process. While the exterior painting will take place automatically with robots, the interior painting will be performed manually.

This paint shop will be working in two shifts for production of a new minivan, and is designed for an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles.
