Daktronics Announces Rebranding of Vortek Division

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Oct. 14, 2010 – Daktronics is pleased to announce the rebranding of its Vortek rigging division to Daktronics.

Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT), has dominated the scoring and digital display industry for decades and acquired Hoffend & Sons Inc. of Victor, N.Y. in 2006 and rights to Vortek® products. With that purchase, Daktronics expanded its product offering with sophisticated rigging systems for theatres, auditoriums and arenas.

"We are very pleased with the progress we have made with our automated rigging business," said Daktronics CEO Jim Morgan. "Automated rigging continues to gain a wider acceptance replacing the counterweight system, and the Vortek product line has established itself as a leader in the industry."

After the acquisition, Vortek representatives were naturally promoting the company's affiliation with Daktronics, a company with a strong reputation in its ability to continually and successfully meet customer's needs. Adding rigging to Daktronics current family of scoreboards, displays, video and sound products, customers around the world have one more solution for their facility.

"The Vortek product family of standardized rigging and control solutions has long been recognized for its innovation and ability to solve complex rigging problems," said Dave Rossi, operations manager for the rigging group. "The transition of rebranding Vortek into Daktronics is a true testament of Daktronics commitment to driving long-term innovation in our industry’s products."

On October 22 in Las Vegas, conference-goers at the Lighting Dimensions International (LDI) premier tradeshow will officially witness Vortek, a division of Daktronics, being rebranded as Daktronics. Vortek’s current website (www.vortekrigging.com) will become www.daktronics.com/rigging. Vortek will remain as the product name for Daktronics hoists.
