Daktronics Delivers One of the Largest LED Video Display in FCS Football to Alabama State University

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Mar. 1, 2013 – Daktronics (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., has designed, manufactured and installed one of the largest LED video displays in FCS Division I football for Alabama State University (ASU) in Montgomery, Ala., at The New ASU Stadium on campus. The 25-foot-high by nearly 65-foot-wide display has Hornets fans swarming to the games to support their team.

“When you spend millions on a new facility, you have to be confident that every aspect of the fan experience reflects your commitment to excellence,” said John Knight, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at ASU. “Daktronics supplied the crown jewels at the new stadium – our HD video board, speaker system and ribbon board.”

The display features a 15HD pixel layout while also incorporating excellent image clarity and contrast, multiple levels of protection from the elements, and a more robust cabinet design. It is capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. It can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements while displaying them all with outstanding brightness and wide-angle visibility.

The installation includes a LED ribbon display that runs along the fascia of the stands. It features 20 millimeter line spacing and measures more than 2 feet high by 348 feet wide. This display will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

Daktronics is also providing a custom sound system which will be integrated with the video and scoring system. The system provides full-range sound reproduction, delivers clear and intelligible speech, and offers a powerful experience for the fans.

About The New ASU Stadium

The new era in Hornet Football began this past fall with the opening of The New ASU Stadium – a $62 million, 26,500-capacity facility on campus at ASU. Within the gates, the facility spans more than 300,000 square feet, and the playing field is surrounded on three sides by the main concourse seating areas.
