MORRISTOWN, NJ—Internationally-exhibited artist David Derr of D2 Studios has created the logo for the 17th Annual New Jersey Storytelling Festival which will take place in Hamilton, NJ on October 18, 2009. After different logos were employed in each previous year of this event, Mr. Derr’s rendering will now serve as the permanent and official symbol in all marketing and promotional efforts.
The day long program features 40 top story tellers from across the state whose goal is to honor the art of the oral tradition. The show is sponsored by the Folk Project, a nonprofit folk music and arts organization based in Hamilton.
Mr. Derr’s creation was designed using basic symbols, including the eye, which
portrays the eye contact between the teller and the audience. Representations of a smile and frown symbolize emotions that are inherent in every story. The logo may be viewed on the web sites of D2 Studios (www.d2studios.com) and the Storytelling Festival.
Mr. Derr works in a wide cross section of artistic modes including traditional and digital painting, mixed media, and assemblages and photography. His works have recently been displayed at The 2nd International Festival of NanoArt in Stuttgart, Germany; European Council of International Schools in Nice, France; and Art Expo in New York City.
Mr. Derr has won numerous awards including: the Adobe Digital Imaging Competition, Int'l. Digital Mural Competition and NY Art Director's Club. His works have been featured in Gallery and Studio Magazine, Photoshop User, and Digital Fine Arts Magazine as well as numerous online exhibitions and websites. He studied at The Art Students League in New York City.
Digital representations of Mr. Derr's licensed properties are available upon request.
