DEEP OSCILLATION® Sports/Surgery/Occupational Injury Rehabilitation enters the Republic Of Ireland at The Raglan Clinic, Dublin

Andrew Watson, BSc. GSR, CSCS Sports Rehabilitator at the Raglan Clinic, Dublin, has now added DEEP OSCILLATION® therapy to the services provided for Musculo-skeletal, sports and occupational injuries.

Dublin, May 18, 2009 (PressReleasePoint) -- Working closely with leading sports medicine practitioners and Orthopaedic Surgeons, he also performs a number of clinical assessments including Isokinetics, Orthotic Prescription, ECG, Pulmonary Function Testing including VO2max testing and exercise prescription for special groups. Now he is combining DEEP OSCILLATION®, the German Patented massage therapy, to his skills.

When previously working as an Athletic Trainer at Texas A&M University, he worked with athletes from many different sports from amateur to Olympic level and is a certified strength and conditioning coach with experience working with NFL and USA national team members and coaches.

Andrew gave his professional opinion of DEEP OSCILLATION® therapy this week.

"I first heard about Deep Oscillation therapy while working in an American university. When I returned to Ireland, I contacted PhysioPod physiopod.co.uk about getting a Hivamat unit, as it was the benefit of being able to use my hands while applying the therapy that really appealed to me. I find the Hivamat very effective in reducing muscle spasm and pain, which is of great benefit particularly around the spine. I have found it increases the therapeutic effect of vertebral mobilizations when performed after the treatment. I have also noticed positive effects in reducing joint inflammation, particularly knees, leading to an increase in pain free range of motion and therefore an decrease in rehabilitation time. BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON DEEP OSCILLATION®
Although new to Ireland this year, DEEP OSCILLATION® has been in the UK since 2007 and is enjoying popularity amongst many sporting professionals from Carl Froch, the World Title Super Middleweight Holder, who has his own DEEP OSCILLATION® PERSONAL SPORT unit, to a leading Premiership Football team, who took it on after three months of robust trialing, used on fresh player injuries and first day post operatively with excellent effect, assisting in the reduction of excess inflammation and speeding up the healing process. Differing to other electrical modalities, it does not heat or electrically stimulate tissue and is extremely gentle in application yet still penetrating 8-12 cm depth.

The therapy is firmly established elsewhere in the world particularly in Germany, where it was developed, in Austria and the USA where the system is used by 20 leading baseball teams including the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Dodgers, and Tampa Bay Rays, by 17 leading American football teams and also in 56 American universities. In Germany and Austria its use has been adopted by 8 National teams and National sports organizations, it is in Peru, Russia and used by the Swiss Para-Olympic team.

“Working as a private practitioner within a sporting environment, I am dealing mainly with sports injuries. A colleague gave me a brochure on Hivamat Deep Oscillation Therapy. I was very skeptical at first but decided to attend a workshop with PhysioPod. I purchased a unit on a month’s trial and within three weeks I was delighted with the results and the positive feedback through my patients. As the therapy can be combined easily with other electrotherapy modalities and treatments I regularly incorporate it and have found it beneficial in reducing inflammation, muscle spasm, pain, and increasing the healing time of muscle strains.

“I just wanted to say how grateful I am to PhysioPod UK for helping me recover from my Achilles tendon injury and also how impressed I am with the Hivamat treatment. As a personal trainer in a large commercial health club and a competitive Masters Athlete I am acutely aware of how troublesome chronic Achilles tendon injuries can be, often taking several months to fully heal (if at all). So I was pretty impressed to say the least to be able to resume light jogging after only one treatment prior to being barely able to walk without considerable pain.
