Dianna Perales Harris Overseeing Marlo Productions Expansion Into Sound Stage Partnership

Major Facility In Downtown Location Will Be Available To Outside Production Companies For Film and Music Video Projects.

Marlo Productions has entered into discussions with the current owner of an operating motion picture sound stage and production facility to purchase or co-own the facility. The sound stage, located in downtown Los Angeles, is over 15,000 square feet, has a 220 foot green screen, dressing rooms, green rooms, and over 20 tons of grip and electric equipment, as well as cameras, dollies, jibs, and more.

“By purchasing this facility, it gives us a studio home for all of our Marlo projects,” said Dianna Perales Harris, lead producer at the company. “The savings to us on rental costs alone make this a great possibility for us. We have had long-term plans since the beginning that we would have our own facility. But it is also a chance to make money by working with other productions in town who need a good facility.”

The sound stage has already been in operation so it will not require starting from ground zero. The facility has already been used by some major projects, from commercials to film and television productions. Snoop Dogg is just one recording artist who has shot music videos on the stage.

The first Marlo Productions project that would fully utilize the facility would be “Wanda’s Place,” which the company is trying to lock down for shooting late fall of this year or spring of 2011. The size of the structure will allow for complete build outs of many of the film’s key sets. But the sets and equipment will also be very useful for many other projects on the calendar.

“If it was only about needing a facility once or twice, this wouldn’t be a good deal for us,” Perales Harris explained. “But we expect to use it a lot. And when we aren’t, we know the need for such a place for other filmmakers is tremendous, so I know this will be a very busy place.”
