Softswitch offers geographic redundancy, distributed architecture for unparalleled service
Parsippany, NJ – July 30, 2014 – Dialogic Inc., the Network Fuel® company, today announced that DollarPhone, the largest privately-owned calling card platform provider in North America, selected the Dialogic® ControlSwitch™ softswitch to offer enhanced session initiation protocol (SIP) services and local number portability (LNP) to both its wholesale and prepaid customers. With a “carrier-grade” distributed architecture, Dialogic’s ControlSwitch is able to power DollarPhone’s network infrastructure, allowing the prepaid juggernaut to focus on generating revenue through SIP-enabled applications and providing its customers with reliable and consistent service.
“DollarPhone’s customers expect impeccable quality at a competitive price, and Dialogic’s ControlSwitch and top-notch customer service team help us deliver on that promise,” said Josh Zaidman, DollarPhone’s chief technology officer. “With more than 1,000 calling card products and 200 wholesale carrier relationships, the ControlSwitch allows us to architect a reliable network with the geographic diversity we need.”
Dialogic’s ControlSwitch System offers DollarPhone geographic redundancy, and the distributed architecture allows the company to manage its global networks as a single entity from a centralized location, rather than approaching each switch instance as a silo. With this centralized management function, DollarPhone can update the routing policies of its global network quickly to decrease operational overhead costs. Additionally, by enabling migration to LNP and helping DollarPhone drive significant activity to IP, the ControlSwitch eliminates the need for costly forklift upgrades while opening the door to alternative wholesale routes to grow more traffic.
“Service providers are under a great deal of pressure to support the influx of new subscriber traffic with zero impact to customer satisfaction; and budgeting for the infrastructure to support this type of activity is an added challenge for operators,” said Jim Machi, Dialogic’s vice president of product management. “Our support team’s commitment to DollarPhone’s switching migration is based on our understanding of the internal and external forces impressing upon the operator’s roadmap while identifying ways to cost-effectively scale its business.”
