A Collaborative Expansion of Scientific and Technical Knowledge between Dr. K.M. Cherian’s Educational Society and CII (Confederation of Indian industry)

Chennai, April 24, 2010: Dr. K. M. Cherian’s Frontier Lifeline Hospital today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Confederation of Indian Industry (Chennai Zone) to establish a basic framework for conducting cooperative activities between Dr. K.M. Cherian’s Educational Society (KMCES) and the CII, which will be beneficial to the respective institutions and its members.

The MoU will result in an exchange of a professional expertise, academic and research experience on a short, medium or long term basis. This collaboration will include the facilitation of major conferences including co-branding, arrangement of sponsors, logistics, and conduct of programme and media coordination (with national /international outlook).

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K.M. Cherian, Chairman & CEO, Frontier Lifeline Hospital says, “It is our immense pleasure to be associated with the CII for this noble initiative. Through this tie-up, we will be exploring the possibilities of exchange of technical information, viz data base technical information in reproduced form, such as periodicals, books on proprietary reports and other references. This association will help the members of both the institutions in expanding scientific and technical knowledge through various research activities.”

A membership driven approach for upholding technology development, business opportunities and market linkages will also be a part of this tie-up.

Earlier in the day, Dr. KM Cherian’s Frontier Lifeline Hospital in Chennai organised for ‘The First South-Asian Transcatheter Valve Workshop’, a two day workshop (24th & 25th April 2010) on the ‘Emerging Technology, Training Opportunities & Inevitabilities’. This is in technical collaboration with Braile Biomedica, a Brazilian manufacturer of quality products used in cardiovascular surgery.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacements is now emerging as an alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement for high-risk patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis, with logistic Euroscore of over 40. The purpose of introducing this technology is to make this procedure economically viable and to bring forth this technology to the aging population. With a rise in the availability of the high-end technology of the number of transcatheter aortic valve replacements, the huge needy population of the emerging economies will be largely benefited. This workshop has received due permission from the Ethics Committee as per the medical stipulation.
