Dubai Airport Freezone announces the Arabic domain names of its official website
Dubai Airport Freezone has announced the launch of the Arabic domain names of its website. UAE being among the first four countries in the world to register domain names in their official languages and not in Roman script, Dubai Airport Freezone followed this direction and managed to obtain approval from Internet Corporation Assigned for Names and Numbers (ICCAN) to use the internet domain in Arabic.
UAE being among the first four countries in the world to register domain names in their official languages and not in Roman script, Dubai Airport Freezone followed this direction and managed to obtain approval from Internet Corporation Assigned for Names and Numbers (ICCAN) to use the internet domain in Arabic.
Dubai Airport Freezone website can now be reached through either of the following addresses when typed in Arabic script: دافزا.امارات"”; دافز.امارات"”; “"سلطة-المنطقة-الحرة-بمطار-دبي.امارات or المنطقة-الحرة-بمطار-دبي.امارات"”. With a substantial increase in the number of internet users in the region, the company’s Arabic domain names will allow a greater number of the Arab audience to access information online.
Emphasizing the importance of the Arabic language as a key symbol of national identity, the UAE government decided in March 2009 to authorize Arabic as the official language at all federal institutions and entities
Mr. Mohammed Al Hashimi, Executive Director of Corporate Support said, “This initiative reflects the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, to promote the Arabic language, and reaffirms the UAE’s deep-rooted Arab identity. Once more, this milestone proves that Dubai Airport Freezone is committed to its customers by continuously enhancing the services through the adoption of latest standards and technologies.”
“The introduction of IDN Top Level Domains is an added-value proposition for the Arab community as it provides new opportunities for Arabic speaking web users, along with Arab companies to properly express their identities in Arabic. They will now be able to fully participate in the global web interaction”, added Al Hashimi.
