Nimsoft Solution Ensures Reliability of EZIS Patient Record System through Proactive Monitoring of Performance and Quality of Service
Redwood City, Calif. – June 3, 2009 –Nimsoft, the ”Big 4” alternative for IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, today announced that Westfriesgasthuis Hospital in Hoorn, The Netherlands, has chosen the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution to proactively monitor the performance of its ChipSoft EZIS Electronic Patient Record System.
The EZIS system runs on 1,200 servers and is used by about 2,500 medical professionals throughout the hospital to access patient-critical medical information. Because Westfiesgasthuis relies heavily on electronic records, it is vital that the hospital be immediately aware of any performance or service issues with the EZIS system.
Westfriesgasthuis selected the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution after learning of a hospital in England that successfully used it to automatically monitor performance. “We were immediately convinced that Nimsoft could solve our problems, especially after we discovered it was so easy to use and implement when compared to alternative solutions,” said Emiel Agema, unit head, I & MT System Administration and Integration for Westfriesgasthius.

Previously, Westfriesgasthuis Hospital had periodically monitored the performance of its electronic patient record system manually, using a stopwatch and plotting and displaying the results on an Excel spreadsheet. This method was both time consuming and inaccurate.
With Nimsoft, the operations team can monitor various points of a typical transaction to determine the total time it takes to complete a transaction as well as the network latency for specific transactions within the system.
As a result, the operations team is able to determine the quality of service throughout the day to ensure that the electronic record system is operating at peak performance. Nimsoft made it easy for the IT group to view the information by displaying it on customized dashboards. This enables the hospital to deploy the resources that previously spent a great deal of time collecting data on more strategic projects.
