There has long been a belief that a major asteroid or meteor could hit the Earth and eliminate the entire human race. While the chances of one of these outer space objects hitting Earth tomorrow is slim, there is a chance it could happen.

There has long been a belief that a major asteroid or meteor could hit the Earth and eliminate the entire human race. While the chances of one of these outer space objects hitting Earth tomorrow is slim, there is a chance it could happen.

Experts have discovered a meteor that is billions of light years away from Earth. This meteor if it stays on its intended path could hit Earth sometime in the next 50 years.

"We spotted this meteor while watching the skies", explained a researcher. "It isn't going to hit Earth tomorrow, but it will at some point unless something dramatic happens to change its course."

Researchers are planning on launching a small microchip out into space. Hopefully, this microchip will land on the meteor and give experts and researchers something to track the meteor with.

The microchip will be hooked up to a fleet management software program here on Earth. That program will provide researchers and people here on Earth with the information to track the meteor. The information provided shows how fast the meteor is moving, where it is, and it's proposed route.

"Anything can happen to this meteor in the next 50 years", explained a researcher. "Sometimes a major storm happens out in outer space and it pushes the meteor off track. Sometimes gravitational pulls change and it gets knocked off track. A lot can happen, but if it doesn't Earth could be in trouble."

The Astronomy Association has tasked several people with the task of monitoring the fleet management software program that is attached to the microchip. These people are trained to recognize any changes in the meteor's pattern.

"Our hope is that we can catch this meteor problem before it becomes a crisis", explained the researcher. "We have people looking at the data and making sure that the meteor is on course."

These people plan on launching an attack plan if the meteor starts to get too close to Earth. They will figure out a way to try and change the course of the meteor or blast it out of space.

"We have a few options available to us", said the researcher. "Right now, our goal is to watch its course. See where it is going and make sure Earth is safe. I think we can do that thanks to the fleet management tracking system that allows us to monitor where and how fast the meteor is traveling."
