Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced the launch of an integrated social media campaign to help promote Egypt as a safe tourist destination including key destinations within the region such as Cairo, Red Sea, Sharm El Sheikh and Dahab.

“Starwood has a strong presence and a long history of operations in Egypt, managing ten properties under the Sheraton and Le Méridien brands. These campaign initiatives aim to highlight Egypt as a safe and attractive tourist destination for international travellers and Starwood’s commitment to actively promote tourism to the region.” says Hassan Ahdab, Starwood’s Vice President and Regional Director of Operations for Africa and the Indian Ocean. “Last year Egypt welcomed close to 14 million travellers from all over the world underlining our confidence in the market and our commitment to restoring the confidence levels of both business and leisure travellers.”

A dedicated website www.egypt-hospitality.com and a social media campaign will be launched soon, both of which will be rich in video and interactive content, to highlight the history of hospitality and service of all 10 Starwood Hotels in the country. The campaign also features the culture, diversity and stunning beauty which encompasses Egypt’s history and which are still present today. More information about the campaign will soon be available via the dedicated website
www.egypt-hospitality.com. For special rates in Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria and the Red Sea Resorts please visit our website www.starwood.com/egypt.

Starwood has also partnered on a project with UNICEF which will enable guests to donate money towards helping the street children of Egypt who have been most affected by the recent turmoil in the country. Through the dedicated Facebook page of the campaign, our fans will be able to upload content from their past and current holidays in Egypt. Starwood Hotels in Egypt will donate $1 per valid piece of content and a team will pick the best photo or video who will win 7 nights which can be used in any of our hotels and resorts in Egypt as well as a combination (for example 2 days in Cairo or Alexandria and 5 days in the Red Sea).

From the Sheraton Cairo Hotel, Towers & Casino, built in 1970 and located on the west bank of the River Nile in the centre the exciting cosmopolitan capital of Cairo to the Sheraton Luxor which has just undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation with its 8 acres of lush tropical gardens, Starwood Hotels offer guests a variety of holidays to suite all tastes and preferences, set to the stunning backdrop of a multi-faceted country which boasts sunshine, white sandy beaches and natural beauty.

“There is no country which possesses so many wonders.” Egypt encapsulates “hospitality at its best.”

The words used by Herodotus to describe Egypt in 450 BC are equally relevant today; which is why travellers from all over the world are still attracted to the mystical and enchanting land of the Pharaohs. A panoply of contrasts: Egypt combines ancient history, vibrant culture, virgin beaches, unparalleled beauty and friendly people.

Egypt’s array of beach resorts, ancient heritage sites and state-of-the art golf courses in almost every city, makes it one of the most exciting leisure destinations that exist whilst being within easy reach of Europe and the rest of the Middle East.
