Ashburnham, MA. September 2009. (PressReleasePoint) Elementary School Teacher, Jane Doiron has published her first cookbook, Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms. Make Ahead Meals for Busy Moms has resulted from years of experience in recipe experimentation and acquired tips.

After years of experimentation, Jane Doiron has adapted her families’ favorite recipes into simple, quick make-ahead meals saving her time, money and stress about what to have for dinner night after night. Now her customized recipes are available in her new cookbook, Make-Ahead Meals for Busy Moms, published by Outskirts Press.

• 71.3 percent of women with children are in the labor force, with three out of four mothers working more than 30 hours per week.

• Americans now spend 48.9 percent of their food dollars away from home-the highest percentage on record.

• With more working moms and more two-income families, there is just no time to eat meals at home. As a result, consumers are buying (at times, unhealthy) prepared food, orders to go, or are just going out to eat.

Jane Doiron is now teaching other busy moms her approach to cooking. She has created special menus perfect for freezing, pre-assembling or quick reheating—so that working mothers can plan their family’s dinners when they’re ready, not when they feel pressured and stressed out.

“Make-Ahead Meals for Busy Moms is carefully compiled with over 140, tried and true, family-favorite recipes like spaghetti sauce with sausage and meatballs, chicken cannelloni, marinated steak, barbeque country ribs and shepherd’s pie. With each yummy recipe, I’ve included instructions for making ahead. Making meals ahead is my practical approach to cooking that frees up precious time on busy days. As a teacher who is passionate about cooking, I want to share this method with busy moms everywhere,” said Doiron.

The cookbook includes recipes for freezable meals like baked manicotti, sloppy joe’s, taco lasagna, and hearty chili. Recipes for frozen marinated meats such as teriyaki chicken, Thai chicken, and taco meat allow for quick meals on busy nights.

“Some of my favorite recipes, like Italian Restaurant Chicken, don’t taste the way they should if they’ve been frozen, so for making ahead, I’ve included the directions to assemble part of the meal the day before,” said Doiron.

Recipes for appetizers, side dishes and desserts are included in Doiron’s cookbook. For recipes like Big Ginger Cookies and Brownie Cookies, Doiron provides make-ahead instructions for flash freezing the cookie dough.

Doiron anticipates other busy moms will enjoy her family-favorite recipes and by making a meal or two in advance, when time does permit, they will be rewarded with quick home-cooked meals, appetizers, or desserts, when they really need them.
