Elizabeth Miller of SSOE Becomes a LEED® Accredited Professional
St. Paul, MN January 20, 2009- SSOE, Inc., one of the nation's largest architecture and engineering firms, announced thatElizabeth Miller, Chemical Engineer, recently earned LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. A LEED AP is an individual who has taken and passed the LEED exam and possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the design process supporting sustainability and to propel the building design through the certification process. The LEED green building rating system promotes the practices of sustainable design, addressing all building types, and focusing on sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resource selection and indoor environmental quality.
Elizabeth joined SSOE in May of 2006 as an intern and one year later started a full-time career with the company after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. She is currently an EIT (Engineer-In-Training) and is working towards obtaining her Professional Engineering License (PE). She is particularly interested in implementing green technologies such as generating on-site renewable energy, efficiently heating and cooling buildings, and using green building materials in SSOE LEED projects. The renewable fuels projects she has worked on, with clients such as Freedom Fuels, Glacial Lakes Energy, and Blue Earth Biofuels, have helped her develop a profound understanding of green technologies.
