The 6th edition of An Introduction to the Psychology of Hearing has now been published and is available to purchase

Bingley, W Yorks, United Kingdom., February 13, 2012 - (PressReleasePoint) - Emerald Group Publishing Limited is pleased to announce that it will publish new editions of the bestselling and seminal textbooks An Introduction to the Psychology of Hearing, which is available now, and An Introduction to the Physiology of Hearing to be published in August 2012.

As the leading textbook in the field of auditory perception, An Introduction to the Psychology of Hearing was first published in 1977 and has become an important source of information used by active researchers in the field.   The newly revised 6th edition will again be authored by Brian Moore of the University of Cambridge and will include updated chapters, plus new sections on perceptual methods of estimating basilar-membrane compression, informational masking of non-speech and speech sounds, experiments and theories concerning pitch perception, and the perception of speech in complex auditory environments.

The 4th edition of An Introduction to the Physiology of Hearing is due for publication in August 2012 and will again provide an invaluable reading companion to practitioners and scholars alike.  This newly revised edition, written again by James Pickles of the University of Queensland will be comprehensively updated to include recent advances in the subject, with special attention to areas such as the processing of complex stimuli such as speech by the auditory central nervous system and hearing loss.

A textbook specific website, containing supplementary material, will support the print edition of both textbooks.

Rebecca Marsh, Director of Publishing at Emerald comments, “We are delighted that both authors have agreed to new editions of their esteemed textbooks.  The commissioning of these two new editions, plus last year’s Signals and Systems, and a possible forthcoming edition of William Yost’s Fundamentals in Hearing: An Introduction, demonstrates Emerald commitment to growing its presence in the subject field.  We are confident that these two new editions will be well received by the subject community”.
