Alexio Pasquali from the United Arab Emirates was accompanied by his journalist wife Karen Pasquali Jones from the “Friday” magazine, one of UAE’s leading lifestyle publications aimed at expatriates and nationals.
NITB devised the itinerary to showcase some of Belfast’s finest food outlets including St George’s Market, Sawyers and Cocoture, led by Belfast Food Tour guide Caroline Wilson.
Also on hand was NITB Media Visits Coordinator, Aileen O’Neill, who joined the couple at Coppi Restaurant in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter where they sampled an array of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and got a feel for the city.
She said, “The Middle East is a fast growing market and is becoming increasingly important for overseas tourism. I was delighted to welcome the couple to Belfast and introduce them to quality, local fare.”

“The majority of our overseas visitors come from core tourism markets such as Great Britain, North America and mainland Europe, and while this will continue it is important that we look to the longer-term opportunities presented by countries such as the UAE.”
