The World Gold Council, the market development organisation for the gold industry, has appointed Emmy Kondo to fulfil a strategic business development role within the jewellery team. Emmy will be focusing her attention on the online community LoveGold, which is approaching half a million followers and on jewellery market development across the world. Based in Chicago, Emmy will report to Sally Morrison, Managing Director, Jewellery.
Emmy has a wealth of experience in both consumer and trade strategic planning having most recently worked at De Beers. As the Vice President, Strategic Planning for Forevermark, she was instrumental in the launch of this diamond brand during the Holiday season of 2011/12 Prior to this, Emmy spent over 10 years at JWT NY as Planning Director, where she was responsible for the widely recognised marketing campaign "A Diamond is Forever" for her client De Beers. She also worked on a number of consumer brands including Ragu and Thermasilk.
Commenting on her appointment Emmy said: "I'm thrilled to be taking on this role at the World Gold Council and to be given the opportunity to find new ways of stimulating demand for gold jewellery, particularly in the US market. I believe there are great opportunities to develop the LoveGold platform even further to reach a wider audience and to reinforce the unique aspects of gold jewellery."
