AccessNow Solution Enables K-12 School Districts to Use TestNav 7.5 on Chromebooks

Closter, N.J., (August 5, 2014) - Ericom Software, a global leader in application access and desktop virtualization solutions, announced today that Ericom AccessNow™ & TestNav 7.5 with Chromebooks is the first certified on-premise virtualization solution for Chromebooks in Pearson’s TestNav Qualified™ program. The Ericom solution enables K-12 school districts from Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia to deliver a wide range of TestNav 7.5 online assessments to Chromebooks seamlessly and cost-effectively.

"Ericom and Pearson share a common goal—to prepare students for success both in college and onward to future careers," said Joshua Behar, President of Ericom Software. “As Chromebooks become more common in K-12, there is an increasing number of the school districts running TestNav 7.5 that want to adopt the device. Ericom makes it possible for these schools to do both – use Pearson TestNav and deploy Chromebooks.”

“Pearson is committed to ensuring the secure, scalable delivery of the TestNav platform to a full range of user devices and client platforms,” said Bryan Bleil, Vice President, Online & Technology Implementation. “Ericom AccessNow & TestNav 7.5 with Chromebooks can assist school districts needing an on-premise way to deliver TestNav 7.5 to Chromebooks and help ensure the integrity of test delivery.”

Ericom AccessNow enables students and staff from K-12 through higher education to connect to Terminal Servers, virtual desktops or to any remote host, and run Windows applications or desktops in a browser tab. This includes running applications that require Java or Flash support. Ericom AccessNow provides the simplest end-user experience while streamlining IT management. Leveraging Ericom’s cutting edge HTML5 and Web technologies, AccessNow turns HTML5-compatible browsers and devices such as Chromebooks, iPads, Android devices, PCs, Macs, Linux devices and locked-down workstations, into enhanced remote access for connecting to Windows and web-based resources.

Ericom AccessNow has been deployed throughout a wide range of K-12 and higher education institutions, extending the traditional classroom environment, enabling BYOD and optimizing education IT budgets and IT resources. As a clientless solution, IT departments prefer Ericom AccessNow because it doesn’t require any installation on the end-user device, reducing the time and resources required to deploy and manage user devices, while providing students and staff with ubiquitous access to academic resources with a consistent experience across devices and locations. By leveraging Chromebooks, School IT admins can simplify client management and cut overall TCO.
