Essex Eagles v Warwickshire Royal London One-Day Cup Quarter-Final  The E.C.G, Chelmsford  2:00pm start

Essex Eagles have named a 14-man squad ahead of the Royal London One-Day Cup Quarter-Final clash with Warwickshire at The E.C.G on Thursday 28 August, commencing at 2:00pm.

Ryan ten Doeschate (shoulder), Graham Napier (calf strain) and Jesse Ryder (hamstring) all missed the final group match against Northamptonshire Steelbacks a week ago but the trio are named in the squad. The Eagles, however, will await the results of fitness tests on a number of players before naming their starting line-up.

Head Coach Paul Grayson is aware that his side are in for a tough battle if they are to reach the last four of the competition. “Warwickshire are a good side and they are playing well – as are we” he said.

“So it should be a good game between two very good one day teams. They will obviously come here with a lot of confidence having won the T20 Blast but we have played really well since they beat us in the Quarter-Final of that competition.

“Over all formats, I think that we’ve won 19 cricket matches this year, which is the second or third highest in the country. That’s something we are proud of and we’ll keep trying to win as many games as we can to add to that figure.

“There is a lot of confidence throughout our squad at the moment and hopefully the three players who were missing from the match at Northants last week will all be fit, because they are three big players for us.

“Warwickshire beat us less than a month ago in the Quarter-Final of the T20 Blast and we want revenge. It’s going to be a tough game though; they’ve got some big players and experienced players, like us, but I’m very confident that we’ll put in a good performance.

“All our guys are very focused on beating them this time and getting themselves a Semi-Final tie.”
