The Europe Regional Network of WorldGBC has officially elected Dr Christine Lemaitre, CEO of DGNB (the German Sustainable Building Council), to be its next Chair for the period 2014-2016.

Dr Lemaitre is a structural engineer by background, who has been CEO of DGNB since 2010, and has held previous roles in industry R&D and several universities. She is also a board member of the Sustainable Building Alliance, and sits on the Steering Committee of the Europe Regional Network.

Paul King, CEO of UKGBC has served as Chair of the network since its launch in 2010, and has overseen its growth from 26 to 34 countries in the region applying the Green Building Councils (GBC) model.

Mr King remarked "Christine and I have worked together through WorldGBC for many years now, and I'm very pleased to welcome her as our new Chair. Recent years have seen a genuine 'network' emerge in the collaborative relationships and understanding that has evolved between national GBCs spanning the region. The coming years represent an exciting period for growth for us, and Christine's leadership will no doubt help us scale our individual and collective work to transform the property market.

" Dr Lemaitre noted "I am looking forward to taking on this European role and furthering collaboration between European GBCs on our education, public policy, awards and research programmes. Paul has done a great job in making us a cohesive unit, and now as WorldGBC moves forward with its new global strategy, I look forward to the challenge of implementing this in our region."
