Charleston, SC, Country., March 23, 2014 - (PressReleasePoint) -
Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina volunteered to help the Ronald McDonald House with legal marketers in Charleston, SC on Friday October 4th 2013. The volunteer project was part of the Legal Marketing Association Southeastern Chapter Regional Conference held I Charleston and gave participants a chance to give back to the local community. The Charleston Ronald McDonald House primarily serves the families of children undergoing surgery at the nearby Medical University of South Carolina by giving them a place to stay and helping with some meals. The house helps alleviate some of the day to day concerns that families go through when a child of theirs goes through a difficult period.
Attorney Evan Guthrie and several other legal marketers from across the country gave back to the house by helping to do some of the chores that needed to be done. Mr. Guthrie helped by cleaning out the freezers of the house of old, expired, or abandoned food that previous families staying there did not take with them after leaving the house. This included checking the expiration dates for unopened food containers and throwing out the food that was expired as well as the food containers that were open and had freezer burn or did not smell right. Attorney Guthrie then carried off the expired food to the dumpster outside of the facility. Another task that Mr. Guthrie helped with was sorting snack packs that each family is delivered each day to help keep them from getting hungry between meals. The packs included two to three small items each that are delivered to each room on a daily basis.
This was the first time that Mr. Guthrie had been to the Charleston Ronald McDonald House. He was happy to be there in a capacity in which he was able to contribute and give back to such an important institution. Attorney Guthrie was also able to get a guided tour of the building and all of the cool things that it contains to help families out in their time of need. Mr. Guthrie enjoyed his visit to the house and looks forward to being able to come back in the future and help out again.
