Parents are already lining up online to get into the upcoming summer camp expo at Roy Thomson Hall in February 2011

Families and summer camp personnel are obviously excited about the upcoming Our Kids Camp Expo in Toronto, Ontario. Exhibiting camps are already reserving spots while a large number of Toronto parents have already pre-registered for free admission into the expo.

Roy Thomson Hall will be the scene of a bustle of excitement February 26, 2011, as parents and summer camps meet face-to-face to discuss benefits of and questions about summer camp. Already, over 25 kids' camps from as far away as Northern Ontario, Quebec and New York state have booked spots to exhibit at the Expo even though it is still several months away. Online registrations by parents are already filling up as well.

The winter weather that will soon be blanketing Toronto will not likely cool interest in summer camps for 2011. Experienced camp parents know that there are many benefits to inquiring about camps early. Among the advantages of getting in early and attending events such as the Expo are the following:
• The event presents a non-threatening environment where parents make much less commitment than they would in a camp visit. They can ask camps any question.
• This gives children a "heads-up" well ahead of time to prepare for camp and know a lot about the new summer camp they will be heading to.
• Some camps offer a price break for families who register their children early.

Steve Paikin, featured in the upcoming annual Our Kids Go to Camp says that parents hesitant to send their children to overnight camps far away from home should "Get over it!" Paikin, host of TV Ontario's The Agenda adds, "If you pick the camp that is the best fit for your children, you'll never regret it. Yes, you miss your kids while they're away. But mine have all benefited significantly from the Ontario camping experience, which I believe, is unlike any other, anywhere in the world."

The Expo promises to be every bit as valuable for parents as Our Kids Media's private school expos. At private school expos, parents typically exclaim about finding out about options they had never considered or finding themselves fully armed with information. For example, Emil is a Toronto parent from the recent Private School Expo, which was also held at Roy Thomson Hall. What Emil said then is equally applicable for parents attending the Summer Camp Expo: "It's important to know what's available earlier. When the time comes we'll be ready to choose."
